Darci lynne is a 13-year-old ventriloquist from Oklahoma who won the Golden Buzzer on America’s Got Talent in May. When in a rush, the Golden Buzzer advances the contestant directly to the live show.

The first live show takes place tonight, where Darci faces 11 other prospects.

Darci grew up watching America’s Got Talent, and she always dreamed of winning. She had a great time meeting the judges and said winning the Golden Buzzer was totally unexpected.

“I just got carried away by the clouds,” said Darci. “It was like I was sitting on a cloud. I didn’t like to imagine that this would happen to me one day.

After her performance, the judges expressed their disbelief and congratulated her.

“I’ll remember you in a week, in a month, in a year,” said series judge Simon Cowell after his performance. “You two are brilliant and when you have it, you have it.”

Her Oklahoma friends are thrilled for her, but she’s taking matters into her own hands.

“They will always call me famous or like ‘Darci, you are such a celebrity’, and I say ‘no I’m not’,” she said.

Darci is completely self-taught, and she says she trains every day in front of a mirror. She has only been practicing ventriloquism for a few years. Before that, she had several other hobbies.

“I did little competitions,” said Darci. “It’s not like glitzy contests. It’s more natural, and that’s what made me come out of my shell for being shy. I also did gymnastics for four years. I trained 33 hours a week.

She says she is very shocked at his international fame and that she is delighted to inspire young ventriloquists around the world.

“I’ve seen videos of people in Japan with little stuffed animal puppets and singing songs,” she said.

Darci has specific plans for what to do with the money if she wins.

“I would really like to donate a lot to mission trips for my church, and second, I would like to buy a dishwasher for my mom and then probably go to Hawaii,” Darci said.

Darci will return to America’s Got Talent for the live show tonight, August 15th. Contestants stay on the show based on who gets the most votes from the audience.

“I’m really excited but super nervous at the same time because, you know, it’s live, and if you mess up you can’t do it again,” Darci said.

Her mother, Misty Farmer, said she was grateful for Oklahoma’s support.

“Oklahoma has been awesome,” she said. “Oklahoma City in general has been incredibly supportive, and that means the world to us because we love Oklahoma.”
