Star Wars screenwriter rejects Han’s potential return to Disney+ series

Don’t expect a Han Solo series to happen anytime soon.

It goes without saying that 2018 Solo: A Star Wars Story failed to click with audiences and as far as non-Skywalker saga movies go, the spin-off project starring Alden Ehrenreich isn’t exactly held in high regard. There’s a reason a follow-up wasn’t discussed.

However, with Lucasfilm expanding the star wars universe on Disney+, chances are the production company will take the opportunity to bring Ehrenreich back for more. Solo adventures.

To be fair, the expansion of the franchise via the streaming service has done wonders for star warsas evidenced by the success of shows like The Mandalorian and Obi Wan Kenobi but famed writer Lawrence Kasdan isn’t too fond of the idea of Solo returning in a potential show.

Talk with Reverse, Kasdan admittedly reassessed the 2018 film, but if it were up to him, he’d only be open to revisiting Han Solo’s pre-Skywalker saga adventures if it ever happened on the big screen. Rejecting the idea of doing a Solo-centric TV project, he said, “I was never particularly drawn to the expansion [Solo] in a show. But, I’m talking to Jon [Kasdan] and Ron [Howard] a lot about what went right and what went wrong with the Solo live. I’d be more interested in doing another movie, not a TV series.”

Of course, Disney always has the final say on future projects, but while I respect Kasdan’s contributions to the star wars franchise, I don’t exactly think a follow-up movie would be the right move. The odds of him underperforming are too risky on Lucasfilm’s part.

Meanwhile, Alden Ehrenreich joins Marvel Studios Stone heart series.
