KENTUCKY INFIDEL Interview Writer and Producer Barbara Sundstrom

I recently met Barbara Sundstrom to National Convention of Religious Broadcasters in Nashville, Tennessee. NRB is the world’s largest gathering of Christian communicators and is the premier conference for those working in radio, television, film or digital marketing.

Barbara is a well-known veteran of the film and film industry. His hard work ethic and “never give up” attitude, along with his strong faith, stood the test of the naysayers. She told me that a college professor made fun of her writing work in front of the other students. Everyone laughed at her and made fun of her. The professor told her that she would never be a writer. Barbara proved him wrong, to say the least!

As a writer/director/producer, her films have won numerous awards, including the Sabaoth International Film Festival Adam Award in Milan, Italy, nine Remi Awards from Worldfest Houston International Film Festivalthree Crown Awards from International Christian Visual Media AssociationBest short film at International Youth Film Festival in Wales, United Kingdom, and two tv price.

Barbara was the founder and former executive director of CROSSWIND PRODUCTIONS, a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring teen filmmakers while producing dramatic films that tackle tough teen issues. Where was Barbara when I was in high school?! I would have loved to learn all the different aspects of the film industry! Barbara said one of her students she taught is now performing in the musical hamilton in Los Angeles.

His script, KENTUCKY INFIDELwas a Kairos Prize semi-finalist in The John Templeton Foundation in Los Angeles. This project is so close and dear to Barbara since it is a true story about her great-grandfather. It was the first screenplay she had written and decided to put it on the shelf for several years. After directing and producing several films, she decided it was time to dust off the script and bring it to life.

The heartwarming, gritty true story of a year in 1870 meant to be preacher of the “holiness of fire” scourged and cursed by his father who searches through infidelity and alcohol to find his only hope and salvation in the simple prayer of his own young son – A child’s prayer with the power of God to save his lost father. It’s a living story, full of power, touching humor and gripping drama.

Audiences will react to this true story because of its captivating human emotion and touching humor. Its universal theme of man’s quest for redemption will resonate with audiences around the world.
